I have just written my DPA request to NatWest and will post it tomorrow by registered post.

I am new to this website and have spent the last 2 or 3 days reading the FAQs and reading many of the threads. It has really given me inspiration.

I didn't think i had that much in charges as my finances are in a much better state than they were a couple of years ago, but after looking back through what statements I do have, I have totalled up £496 in charges .

I currently still bank with NatWest, I don't have an overdraft, but I do have a personal loan from them for about £4,500. In spite of this, I intend to go ahead and pursue them to get my money back.

I have also kicked the ball off with BarclayCard today, sending my DPA letter by registered post (you can view my thread in the Barclaycard forum, Jackson vs Barclaycard).

I will keep you all informed of what happens :).

Nat West Visa - £188.05 claimed - partial offer of £140.00 - moneyclaim served 08/08/06

BarclayCard - £200.00 claimed - partial offer of £80.00 - moneyclaim issued 17/08/06

Nat West Bank - £666.62 claimed - moneyclaim issued 21/08/2006

Hi and Welcome

Great news that you have already read around the forums and FAQ's before you jumped straight in , if only everyone would do that :D

It is suprising how much they have taken off you when you add it up .

The loan is a seperate agreement .

Well done and welcome Jackson.

Nat west seem to be 'not receiving' recorded letters to 135 Bishopsgate at the moment. So be prepared to hassle them or do what I did today, ring them up and ask for statements, which they agreed to send 5-10 days.

Good luck

kate:)

Thanks for that katesage, very useful to know. I shall give them a few days and then check if they received it and also remind them that's the address they have registered with the Information Commissioner.

As you rightly said, katesage, NatWest "did not receive" my initial DPA Request. I waited a week and then phoned them - they gave me an alternative address to post the DPA Request to:

Data Protection Manager

Retail Regulatory Risk

2nd Floor

Business House B

Gogarburn

PO Box 1000

Edinburgh

EH12 1HQ

They told me to send another cheque for £10 - I told them where to go of course and then they said, oh, don't worry about the cheque then, just send the DPA Request again.

I sent it and waited another week without hearing anything, then decided to call Customer Services - they told me today that they have all my statements ready to post and have been ready a few days, they just weren't sure where to send them! How pathetic an excuse is that?! The DPA letter makes it quite clear to send them to my home address OR I would be happy to collect them from my branch.

Anyway, they are posting them this evening, so I will keep you informed.

I received a years worth of statements for 2002 and no others! I waited another week as previous posters have said they sometimes received there's in 2 batches but none came. I phoned them again and was told they were being posted that day. 4 more days have passed and still nothing! I will give them till Friday before phoning again. There 40 days still aren't up to be fair, but it's very annoying when they tell you they're being sent that day and they don't arrive.

Finally received my statements today after having to have sent 2 DPA requests and made 4 phone calls! Totalled the charges up to £523.20 and have posted my preliminary approach letter to my local branch today.

Good luck Jackson

I'm putting in a claim on behalf of my son and have had no joy in getting any response from Nat West. I'm not prepared to get into any conversation with them on the telephone so I have now issued an LBA giving notice that I shall be seeking a court order obliging them to comply in relation to Section 7 – Data Protection Act 1998.

Best of British - I'll watch with interest.

I got a flat refusal to refund any money! In fact, the dosy bank replied to both my Preliminary Lettera and LBA on the same day! It was tempting to write a nasty letter back, but actions speak louder than words - MoneyClaim issued today!
