We have received our list of charges back from the Woolwich and about to fill in our Excel sheet. However, we are not sure if we should be including the interest charges on this sheet. I seem to remember reading somewhere that you cant, but cant seem to find where I read this.

Does anybody know?

Thanks.

Our spreadsheets will work out the interest on each charge for you - but are you referring to putting the overdraft interest they charged you into the spreadsheet?

You should only include O/D interest if you know for certain that the amounts are due solely to the unlawful charges, otherwise you would be attempting to claim back interest that had been added 'fairly' by the bank.

Thanks for replying so quickly.

The charges i am referring to are listed as IC, Interest charge which seems to be a variable rate taken each month, so i think they must be overdraft interest, also they have included them on the list of bank charges requested, which makes me think that they can be claimed back. Still not sure though, would appreciate your thoughts.

I had a headache trying to work this out, so in the end left of the overdraft interest. The general feeling alot of people have on this forum is that if you end up in court, you could say you left it as goodwill to bank to more than cover their costs.
