If it's statute barred it won't do any harm to ignore them.

That's a very crafty trick just sending a 'contact us urgently card' without a good reason - I thought that kind of thing wasn't allowed anymore??

Perhaps you should hang on to it, in case you decide to make a complaint against them.

HOIST BY THEIR OWN PETARD.

Blimey it works....:-)

I got something equally vauge. An orange envelope. A telemessage (What ever that is.) I open it and it has my name and address at the top. Half way down on the right is the date (30th May, 2007) and near the bottom it says 'Please call Lee on 0870 240 5138". And that's it. I google the number.. it's Blair, Oliver and Scott DCA! Thank googness for the internet otherwise i would have had no idea!

ive been in contact with TS and one of the things ive queried is these kind of vague cards, and they have pretty much said that they are possibly in the wrong, keep hold of it, because it might be worth looking up the OFT guidance for debt collecters which states that they " must not act in an unclear or threatning manner" which these cards are completley unclear...

i will tell you who the firm is on one condition... you take the information straight to the OFT, and say that as a result of poor practice, in an age where consumer debt is at a high (mainly due to greedy, irresponsible lending policies of the wunch of bankers we call 'the big four') these companies havea dutie to act in accordance with guidlines, and that thier CCL shoudl be revoked as they are not fit to hold one, given that they cannot comply with UK FS legislation

Hi - we too received one of those mystery letters, not addressed to anyone, just our address. Being a cynic I thought it might be someone trying to rip us off and did an address check only to find it was from Ruthbridge Ltd. Will keep the letter but not reply - I have no idea what they are after/on about and will ignore it as unsolicited mail.

I had one of these call-cards too, and being far too decent for my own good, I phoned them, and it was DCA Blair Oliver and Scott, and they subsequently sent me a "you need to pay us lots of money or we will take you to court blah blah" letter, so I CCA'd them, and they disappeared!

Next time - no phone call from me, and as is the common thought in this post, ignore them!

Good work all, great to see that we are all giving the DCAs as good as they give (no infact, make that better!!)

OFT guidelines for debt collection....

Statute barred debt

2.13 This guidance applies to the pursuit of debt regardless of its age. We will be

carrying out further work on this aspect of debt recovery including analysis of

relevant legislation and practice throughout the UK.

2.14 In the past we have dealt with a number of statute barred debt cases governed by

the Limitation Act 1980, which applies to England and Wales. Based on that

experience our position with regard to England and Wales remains:

a. we accept legally the debt exists

b. it is the methods by which the debt is collected that can be

unfair as follows:

• it is unfair to pursue the debt if the debtor has heard nothing from

the creditor during the relevant limitation period

• if a creditor has been in regular contact with a debtor before the debt

is statute barred, then we do not consider it unfair to continue to

attempt to recover the debt

• it is unfair to mislead debtors as to their rights and obligations, for

example, falsely stating or implying that the debt is still legally

recoverable and relying on consumers not knowing the relevant legal

provisions, and

• continuing to press for payment after a debtor has stated that they

will not be paying a debt because it is statute barred could amount to

harassment contrary to section 40 (1) of the Administration of

Justice Act 1970.

Do you think it was a late valentines card? Sorry, shouldn't make light of it, but I really do find debt collection 'agents' pathetic. I used to work for one, it is hillariously funny, knowing all thier little tactics and attempted short cuts.

Amazing that these clowns still send these stupid yellow cards throught the post. HTF do they know whether you were in or out if it was delivered by Royal Mail. This stupid postcard is in direct contravention of OFT guidelines. NEVER ring these monkeys up. Write to them and simply ask for a copy of their complaints procedure, dont say why just demand it. Comply with their complaints procedure and if you are not satisfied with their response as no doubt you wont be then you can report them direct to FOS who will charge them £400 at least for investigating the complaint.

Send a copy of the silly postcard to trading standards.

Next Clownells wil pass you on to their paramilitary wing Hamptons iLEGAL and following this they will pass you on to a company which specialises in insolvencey:rolleyes: Red Debt Collections. Dont worry they are all part of the same bunch of Muppets. Same company just different types of threats

I got rid of them with a nice quick phone call, yes I really did call them and they ran away.

They must of seen my profile here ;)

Normally I would say DON'T EVER call these people, but after everything I've learnt here I felt it was time to kick these "people" where it hurts.

If they have acted out of turn, unlawfully, or against UK legislation (yes, even those companies with offices, head or otherwise have to comply with us Brits!) report then to the Office Of Fair Trading, and in your complaint, state that they are unfit to hold a consumer credit license, and you would request this be reviewed and if necessary revoked.

A word of warning though, don't expect a christmas card off them if you do

EXPRESS DELIVERY

URGENT

0208 734 3569

Just rang em, doing my best Terry Tibbs impersonation,

now apparently they are a courier firm, and they have a letter for a certain person at the address, and they need a signature for it

so infact. what they are is a subsiduary of Rathbone, but are infact a courier firm...so I have asked if they can pick up a parcell from southgate N21 delivering to an address in Brixton

but low and behold they are not actually a courier firm at all!!!

anyone who wants to use this info in a fight, please feel free.
