Hi guys, new to this forum. Read some posts and this seems to be the place to be =D, now I’ve done some brown nosing I’ll start with my current dilemma lol:

16/06/2007

Car incident happened, went off the road into a Ballard

19/06/2007

Informed by garage that the repair bill would be £6500 (deffo write off)

20/06/2007

Informed by insurance company (Endsleigh) that an independent engineer will be estimating the car and confirming if it is a total loss.

I have an excess of £800 and full comp on my mother's policy.

I need to weigh up my options but it looks to me like I will be stripping the car and selling for parts as I have spend £1000s on repairs etc.

I have put the engineer on hold thought the insurance for the moment until I am clear what I need to do.

I do not want my mother's no claims to be affected so I can be on her policy again in the future.

Does anybody have any wisdom or ideas to share with me? :|

Thanks for taking the time to read this =)

You say that you don't want you mothers NCD discount to be affected....

Are you the main driver of the vehicle that has been written off???

If so, I recommend you withdraw the claim.

If you are the main driver of the vehicle you really need to insure in your own name.

Abbey - owed £3260 - Paid up.

Barclays owed £2500 - Paid up.

Halifax, Mint & Egg - next on the hit list

Dont click on the scales - I'm quite proud of my little red dot! - As the little red dot has gone - click away!!!!

No I'm not the main driver, my Mother is the policy holder

Main driver and policyholder are not necessarily the same thing though.

Sorry for sounding negative but all through your post you talk as if the car is yours EG

So I can understand why Craig has said what he did above.

Does this bare any relevance?

Yes, as you may find your claim is turned down if your mother were 'fronting' for you and the insurers discovered this.

Not saying this is what has happened - just a friendly word of warning.
