Hi,

I am new here and I'm making a claim against two banks including HSBC. I am concerned though because I am in debt with both banks. I have a personal loan with HSBC which I am scheduled to pay off over 12 yrs. I am concerned that as I am claiming against the bank charges they will demand immediate payment for the loan. Has anyone been in this position with HSBC? Can anyone tell me what is the likelihood of this happening and what you can do about it?

Many thanks,

Your banking agreement is totally different to the Terms and Conditions layed out on your loan agreement so the bank can't demand immediate payment unless you default your payments.

Also when you win you can ask for payment by cheque so they don't try and sneak the payment into your loan account. But as trish says it's a seperate issue so should not be a problem!

Thanks Trish & freakleaky for your very quick replies!

I should have realised that it wouldnt affect it as it a separate agreement! Duh! I was getting mixed up with overdrafts.

That is a great suggestion about asking for payment to be made my cheque so you have more control over what you spend it on though I was going to use it to help towards paying off the loan anyway!

Thanks again :)
