I'm very new to all this.... so i hope this arrivies in the right place!

I am with the Isle of Man Bank which is now part of the Natwest. I am frankly amazed to find that the horrific charges i have paid over the years are illegal.

Before I begin my attempt to reclaim I would like to check that this information all applies to the Isle of Man. Often the types of accounts offerd by the bank vary because of the differences in the tax system here, but i would have thought that the legality of charges would remain the same.

I would be grateful to find out if anyone on the Isle of Man has tried to recalim their charges already?

Or

If anyone has any information that may clarify my situation?

Thank you

I am unable to tell you if the common law is the same. You will have to discover that for yourself. I am sure that the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations apply to the Isle of Man because they represent a European wide consumer law regime.

As for Isle of Man access to the small claims system, you will have to discover that and it would be useful if you would let us know what the answers are.

In summary I think say that your charge are recoverable or whether the means of doing it are the same we cannot say

Perhaps, but then the action would be properly served on the IoM Bank rather than NatWest, rather than yet another subsidiary....! (If you see what I mean!).
