Hello everyone!

I just joined this esteemed site yesterday. I'm glad to find that I am not alone and reading the posts has given me th confidence to try and get my credit rating back on track and to also reclaim my bank charges. I need some help and advice with the following

1. Abbey National -

2 accounts defaulted due to excessive charges. Can I claim retrospectively?

2. Halifax

2 active bank accounts, need to reclaim bank charges

3. Bank of Scotland

2 active bank accounts need to reclaim bank charges

4. Capital One

Defaulted due to excessive charges, now being pursued by Bryan Carter Solicitors. Last letter received from them dated 14/5/2007. This is now a CCJ. Would like advice on claiming back charges and getting item removed from file

5. Citifinancial credit card

Defaulted due to excessive charges. Debt sold to Capquest Investments Ltd. Just seen this on my credit file as a CCJ. Again need help with this

6. Other defaults - London Scottish Bank? (Next - I think), International Coolections Group Ltd? Littlewood Flexible Account and Grattan - Look Again Agency.

All the above date back to a very dark period of my life, which is happily over. I have credit accounts which I run like clockwork and mainly pay for things straight from my bank account, having saved for it first.

Sorry if this is a long list but my history is long! Any suggestions on how I might proceed with any of the above would be great. As I am a**l about filing, I have bank statements going back to 1991 (when I was just 14 years old), so I will not need to ask banks for SAR. What it means though is that I will need to trawl through lots of paperwork!

Look forward to hearing from any of you soon.

Hi and welcome to the site,

tongue2.gif

You've definately taken the first step into claiming back what's rightfully yours.

Spend time reading the FAQ's and the Step by Step guide as this will stop you making mistakes along the way. Use the letters and spreadsheets in the Templates Library as these have all been tried and tested in successful claims. Read as many threads as you can especially ones that relate to your bank. This is a SELF HELP site and won’t do the work involved for you. However, everything you need is on here somewhere.

Don't be afraid to ask any questions, no matter how stupid they may seem, but please remember that any advice that you receive is normally based on experience only and that you should seek expert advice if required.

Once you start the process of your claim remember to open a thread in the relative bank forum, this will enable you, and others helping you, to keep track of your claim.

All the best in your claim!!

Wow! Thank to you both for such a quick response. I'm going to start with Abbey National (as I have nothing to lose). I was wary about re-claiming my bank charges before as I was worried about having my accounts closed. Due to the adverse on my account, I will struggle to get another account. However, I have resigned myself to this possibility and opened a couple of prepaid debit card accounts, in lieu of this.

I will let you know how I get on!
