I bought some sofa's from DFS and am not happy with the quality. I have a 5 year guarantee, the cushions have gone lumpy, any advise on complaint procedures? Called them once and told them I was concerned a while back, they sent out their so called manager, who came in didn't stay longer than 2 minuted, sat on the sofa, bounced up and down a couple of time and had the cheek to tell me I need to plump up muy cushions. Hello!!- I do this every day.

Any advice on what I can do?

I bought a corner unit 3 years ago and after a year one of the cushions had gone really flat (the one in the corner that took all the stick!!) Phoned DFS and they sent out an upholsterer, who took it to bits in my lo9jn ge and put extra foam filling in it. It's been fine since.

hope this helps .

We bought a red corner suite November 2005.

We have noticed the red colour is wearing away on the seams and looks awful.

Called the store and today a man came out, he said he could touch the affected areas up to restore the colour but could not guarantee it will not happen again.

He said it often happens on the seams. :o

I refused the repair on the grounds that it would not be a permanent repair.

He said there was not much he could do as we had had the suite over a year. I told him that surely a leather suite is meant to last more than a year and mentioned the Sale of Goods Act.

He said he would report back to his store manager who would contact me.

No contact as yet.

I'm putting my complaint in writing to the store and head office.

Any ideas how long I should give them to sort the problem out and what should I ask for. Refund, New Suite?

Thanks

Having worked in funiture retail for the past 10 years (not DFS) sounds like you purchased a FULL ANILINE leather sofa so these marks (even numbers) are to be expected, and can vary significantly from sofa to sofa. Take the example of a solid wooden dining table not all wood grain it the same!!!

There are lots of VERY cheap leather sofas around as leather did become very popular leading to the problems you are describing. Read the information at this link: Leather Master UK - Leather types

Leather is sliced into layers and to be honest with you the top cut of the leather is the best for wear on upholstery. Alot of cheaper leather are the 3rd and 4th cuts of leather which to be honest are only no good for use on upholstery at all

Hi there I purchased a suite in Jan 2005, it was delivered in the Feb. After only a few months I noticed that the colour would wipe off with a damp cloth. I contacted the Glasgow store about this and a service manager came out to see it. After his visit, during which he managed to wipe half the colour off my suite, I recieved a phone call to go back into the store to pick another suite. When I arrived I was told that they knew about there had been a problem with this suite in the colour I had picked, well not seeing any other suite I liked that cost the same as the origional (cos I was told if it cost more I'd have to pay the difference!!) I askde if I could have the same suite but in a different colour. I was assured that it was only my origional there had been problems with so the order was placed.

I recieved the new suite in Dec 2005 and now not even 2 years later the same thing is happening:-x . Guess what all I have been offered is a recolour!! Well I have written them a steaming letter because the manager keeps telling me on the phone that a recolour is all I'm entitled to, and that a refund won't be happening. We'll see about that I'm prepared to take it as far as I have to in order to get a satisfactory result:x . Any advice would be more than welcome though
