Hello all

i fear I may have found you all a little late but here goes,

In 2004 I decided to do a home study course in pc maint. When the chappie came round he said that I wouldn't have to buy any extra materials as it was provided with the course, anyway the finance was from a company called aques (sp) finance and all went splendidly until about 3 months in when the course called for me to fit hard drives etc...now I wasn't going to tinker with my own pc so called to ask when the bits were to arrive. I was told that I had to use my own. I then decided to cancel the course as I could not afford to see it through. Now BCW are chasing for the debt which of course I acknowleged, I asked them to tell me how much was paid in tutor fees etc as I only did a few months so surely I wouldn't be liable..ie where was all the money spent if I didn't use it? They said that was nothing to do with them they just collect the debt. I have offered them £20 per month but still feel aggrieved at having to pay at all it stands at £1100.

could I still ask for more details of expenditure?

Time to CCA them and make sure that they are allowed to try and collect this debt.

There's a great thread covering CCA right here: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/site-questions-suggestions/79147-consumer-credit-act-resources.html#post702982

Have a look at post #13 for a CCA letter.

Basically this should prove you with a copy of the original credit agreement and statement of account. and therefore BCW right to collect on it.

Now thee are a number of deadlines for this.

first is 12+2 WORKING days, if after this time the don't comply then they cannot enforce the debt. Then one month later they commit a criminal offence.

Hope this helps some.

Be VERY careful whose advice you listen too
