Hello, i hope someone can clear this up for me.

I bank with Nationwide and my mortgage WAS with Halifax. I noticed i had an unpaid DD fee on my Nationwide account and called them to find out what that was in relation too. It turns out that Halifax had requested a mortgage payment, even though i had cancelled my mortgage with them and transferred it.

Nationwide said i need to contact Halifax and claim it back from them.

I called Halifax and explained what had happened, they acknowledge that the mortgage had been closed when the request was put through. I was asked to get a letter from Nationwide saying that they had charged me and then Halifax will look into it.

I wanted to know, who i should be chasing the money from. As far as i am concerned Halifax made an error and they need to refund me, am i right in thinking that???

HELP:confused::confused::confused:

Thanks :)

From what you have said, and as they have already partly admitted fault I would say Halifax, as I would imagine the claim would be easy and quick with them.

But nothing to stop you going to Natwest and trying to claim that and any other unlawfully high charges they may have applied to your account as well!!
