Hi all,

just wondered if anyone could offer me some advice? I am claiming from A and L on behalf of a friend and her claim is for approx. £900.

Today they have sent her a cheque for £250 (as they've closed her account).

Now, my question is, can she cash the cheque and still carry on the claim? (she's desperate for the cash at the mo)!

Do I send A and L a letter to that effect?

All your advice very gratefully received!

Lisa x

I phoned the court this morning after being in the same position as your friend and was told that I could keep the money, but had to write to A&L explaining that I accepted it as part payment and would be continuing to pursue the remaining amount. You MUST include the words WITHOUT PREJUDICE in your letter, I have typed it in capitals at the top of the letter and included it my wording of the letter.....
