Hello everyone, this is my first time so not sure if this is what I should be writing about. Can anyone help? im trying to recliam my bank charges. I rang halifax for their address and was given the Business risk retail address and told to send a £10 cheque which I did on the 3/04/07 along with Martin's template, this to date has not been cashed. 40 days went by no letter so I followed this up with a phone call on 12/05/07 and was told I was given the wrong address and information and that it will be logged as a complaint and that someone will phone me in 5 working days but, I will now have to wait another 28 days. I thought about this over the weekend and was not happy as this will make it 68 days so, I rang on 15/05 and asked to speak to a manager in the complaint department. The manager told me the person I spoke to on the 12/05 gave me the wrong information and that I had sent my letter to the right place. He also said that they logged all calls so he was able to tell who I spoke to and was going to report him to his line manager. He reasured me that he would start the process from their end which will save me time and that I will receive a letter in 2-3 days from the complaints depatment with 8 or 9 numbers on which will be my reference number. I did receive a letter 18/05 dated 16th from customer relations saying they carried out a investigation of my complaint and was satisfied the charges have been correctly applied to my account. Confused I was as I have not seen a copy of my charges to process a claim. I rang customer relations and ask how could they make a decision as I had not made a claim yet. I was told they did it because I made a complaint. I said I complainted about not receiveing a copy of my bank charges and that I still would like to go ahead with my claim and, could I please have a list of charges as requested on 3/04. I am now told I will receive them in the next 3 working days. Now I am really confused as to what if any steps do I take now. Please can you help?

Hi Carol and welcome to the site.


You have certainly been given the run-around, but I think this is more likely because of a lack of training rather than a deliberate attempt to delay you.


In light of the above, I would advise you to give them the 3 days they suggested for supplying the info and if they still fail to arrive, follow the procedure we have on our site, some of which I have detailed below.
