Hi Motta,

Firstly that sounds like a double penalty system which is not fair!

As I said in the chat room - firstly HI and welcome to the CAG.

I realise that the fees are not fair but you can claim them back. You can claim these charges as well as 6 years worth from this account or even a closed account.

The first thing to start to claim back charges - is to read the process.

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/faqs-please-read-these/31460-example-step-step-instructions.html

This is an overview of how it all works.

So just a couple of questions to help further and so everyone can assist.

1) Is this the only account you wish to claim back charges on?

2) If so - are these the only charges on the account?

It would help then to answer these so people know what you are seeking in the way of help.

All the best,

CJ

Is there no way that you can set up an overdraft withn the Halifax?

At least that way you be able to give yourself a buffer zone for the future and thereby, hopefully, avoid any more unpleasant charges.

Hi Again,

If these are the only fees, then write to them asking for them back!

For a small claim - they may settle at your first request.

So if you send this letter here

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/671-2-letter-preliminary-approach.html

You may find they refund them without a second thought!

So I would try this first and see what response you get and let people know when you have a reply.

It is not about whether it is a small or large claim, it is about it being wrong and your right to have it back.

Try and see what happens! It is the first part of the leg to claiming.

CJ
