I made a claim against YB for my credit card and got the money back (£40) last year.

 

Now i'm going through my bank acct statements now that it looks like you can claim over 6 years.

 

I have entries on my statements such as

17/10/1997 Charges £27.00

17/10/1997 Debit Interest £6.08

15/01/1998 Unauth O/D Fee £6.00

15/01/1998 Charges £27.00

15/01/1998 Debit Interest £24.49

17/04/1998 Charges £27.00

17/04/1998 Debit Interest £41.21

 

Charges & Unauth O/D Fee I know I can claim but what about the Debit Interest - can I claim that ? I think that the interest is related to me going into (and occasionally over) a pre-arranged overdraft.

You can claim for the charges but I do not think that you can claim for the debit interest.

From previous experience, its not advisable to go for the debit interest as it can be quite complicated, as you'd need to work out exactly what proportion of the interest relates to the charges only, which would be practically nigh on impossible.

Rang them up today and got £65 of charges refunded from last month - this was a mistake on my part. I don't use the account for much but there were a couple of DD's still running from there and it took me overdrawn - simple call to the branch and threaten to close the account and they were refunded straight away !

 

Hope the rest are that easy. Currently checked 1996 - 2000 statements and got £380+ in charges and about £300 of debit interest.

letter received 14/6 - 'As you will appreciate, I need to make investigations into the points you have raised. In the meantime I thank you for your patience in this matter and i will contact you as soon as my investigations are complete'

Letter received a week ago - standard one with 8 points of the T&C's of my account etc, and then a comment saying T&C's were fair with regard to cost to bank of maintaining admin systems related to unauth overdrafts etc

 

Rang them on 011324720000 - pretty useless. Won't do anything verbally, has to be in writing.

Write in, they pass it onto claims investigations and they then write back. They have a big backlog so can't say how long that will take.
