I sent my first letter to my bank requesting my bank statements on the 10th of March 2007, the letter was copied from one of the templates I found on this website It told the bank that they have 40 days to comply with my request. On the 10th of April my bank cashed the £10 cheques i sent to cover their admin fees. Todate I have still not received my bank statements. I have have contacted them twice by phone the first occasions the helpdesk told me that they have eight weeks to reply and that I didn't state what period I wanted the statements over and that I will be receiving a letter shortly with a reference No to call them.that was one week ago, I have contacted them again today and the helpdesk said they have no record on their system of that conversation but they have a backlog and I should receive my statements in the next week or so. They were unable to give me a call reference just the name of the person I was speaking to.

Can someone please advise me what to do next????

Thank you

Murphey, did you send your letter by recorded delivery? If not, then your bank may argue that they didn't recieve your SAR's request until the day before your cheque was cashed. If it was sent recorded, just check what date the letter was signed for. If it was ordinary post, then I would hold off on the non-compliance letter, until the 40 days after April 10th.

and that I didn't state what period I wanted the statements over

I assume you did (the template states for your entire banking history if my memory is correct), if so, nothing to worry about there.

Just double check on the postage of the Sars request.
