I would be very wary of any consolidation loan!

Maybe if you gave a bit more background info...such as the state of your credit card accounts, are DCAs involved, your employment status...you might find some helpful advice :)

Hi Thanx all,

My Credit cards are as follows

Capital One- £600 outstanding costing me £28 p/m

Barclycard- -£4700 outstanding costing me £170 p/m

Halifax- -£2700 outstanding costing me £100 p/m

Lloyds -£2900 outstanding costing me £100 p/m

I also just purchased my house las year and pay about £580 p/m including my insurance

I am self employed as a taxi driver and struggling at the minute and thought that consolidating all my debts to one payment would be a good idea.

in principle MANY people think the same, and on occasion it is. The thing to bear in mind is that when you consolidate you may end up paying interest on interest which has already accumilated, also you may be tempted to start spending on the cards again.

your first step is to work out a detailed budget.

have a go at filling this in, let us know what your surplus income is [the amount you have left after you account for your essential outgoings]
