Just a note to say that my daughter is going to attempt to claim charges back from Nationwide - her account was opened from approx 1997 and closed in 2000 and so she didnt have any records of account number or any other details. She rang customer services and a very helpful young man provided her with all the details she needed :) So now we are about to sent off letter requesting statements etc. will update as and when we progress. Natwest on the other hand told her that although they had access to all her details she would have to write in for any information!! She also had accounts with two other banks - as you might of guessed this was all during her student years! If she pulls all of this off then i might just consider retiring at her expense:D

Stick with the claims and do not let the banks dictate timeframes to you.

 

There are set limits in which they have to respond and they know this but they will try to bend the rules to suit themselves.
