Hi all, this is my first post and I am looking for some advice.

I basically tried to claim back charges to my account in September last year: did all the right things, got my bank statements, sent them the first letter etc...and all I got back was this reply which is probably standard anyway but put me off from pursuing it further: :(

"

Dear The-Miser,

Account xxxxxxx

Sort Codexxxxxx

Thank you for our letter of 1st October 2006 . I appologise for any dissatisfaction caused by the application of charges to your account.

We beleive that our charges are fair, reasonable and transparent. We consider that the amounts debited to your account have been applied strictly in accordance with your agreement with us and our published tariff, which we are satisfied complies with all aplicable laws and regulations. We are also comitted to ensuring the transparency of the information the we give to our customers about the operation of our products.

Against that background, we must differ to the views expressed in your letter.Accordingly the gharges thta have been aplied to your account must stand.

However, thank you for taking the trouble to writte.

yours sincerely,

xxxx

Customer Care Team. "

Obviously, this could be just to discourage me to pursue this any further, but if anyone has any idea on how to get further in this matter I would be very gratefull...Obviously there hase been quite a gap in me picking this up again but I could always make a new claim...the have off course applied more charges to my account since...!!!!

every single thing they do is to try and put you off or buy you off cheap

follow the procedure step by step and you will get every single penny you claim

read and understand the spreadsheets before proceeding is my advice, claim the interest on your charged using the 'complex' sheet, you're leaving money behind if you don;t imho

the CI claim is bolder and perhaps dodgier but people are getting that paid too and it adds a lot to a claim

Ok All done!

That brings me to £3070 plus £651.79 in interest a total of £ 3729.79!!!!

Has anyone got any experience in hagling on the interest? ie....if you pay now then I will not bother about the interest?

And what is your experience? Are they more prone to settle quickly if you waive the interest ?

Hi miser,

Generally, and NATTIE will concur as he's said it many a time, Natwest do not refund interest prior to any court proceedings.

I'd be very interested to see if they actually offer to settle in the first stages, considering the amount you are claiming. In my experience you are likely to have to issue them with the N1 claim form and go through the motions, unfortunately. But, the good news is that as long ass you follow the step-by-step instructions given within this fantastic site you'll be a winner sooner than you know it.

Hope this helps and good luck:)

Agree with muggins. They will offer you charges without interest. Hang in their it's your money taken unlawfully from your account. Which you have a legal right to claim.

Good luck.
