After successfully claiming back all my charges from the Northern Bank, I thought I would turn my attention to Credit Card companies - in this case HSBC, and attempt to reclaim all my charges.

 

DPA Letter all ready to post tomorrow. Lets hope they dont take long sending out my info!

Northern Bank Ltd.

19/08/06 - Data Protection Letter Request.

26/09/06 - Statements received (October 1999 - September 2006).

13/10/06 - Letter requesting refund of £643 charges sent.

30/10/06 - Letter Before Action sent.

13/11/06 - Refund of £224 Offered. Offer Refused.

11/12/06 - Court Claim filed against NB.

21/12/06 - SETTLED IN FULL - £784.36.

welcome to the hsbc forum and very good luck on your claim. you've been there before so you know the tried and tested methods!!

gosh we're so responsible for keeping jobs open/new recruitments at hsbc lol

They will take forever to send your statements. Do not forget to reming them with a letter 7 days before the 40 days expire.

Halifax - £245 - SETTLED - in full

MBNA Business - £190 - SETTLED - in full

HSBC - Closed business a/c - £1,850 - SETTLED IN FULL

HSBC - Business a/c - £4,388 - SETTLED FOR £4,100

Nat West Card - SETTLE IN FULL - £124.71

Halifax Credit Card - MCOL 26th May 2007

Egg - 1st LBA 12th May 2007

I was talking to a friend of mine earlier today who has been there and done it with Credit Card companies and he tells me that the CC Companies work faster than Banks do when it comes to charges. Apparently most offer you the difference between the amount you were charged and £12 pretty soon after you request it. Heres hoping!

The £12 charge is a theoretical figure that was mentioned when the OFT published their report into credit card charges. You can ignore this and go for the lot if you want, its never been proved.

Its up to you how much of a fight you want and how much of your money you want back.
