Firstly Hi everyone this is my first post.

I am having some major (for me) issues with a company called Lowell Portfolio I Ltd. They have registered a Default on my credit file on the 7/01/07, my rating has dropped to Fair from Good and the mortgage I want I now can't get!!

To say the least I was surprised the default was there as when I checked with experian before christmas everything was hunky dorey.

Any the deafault is for a Barclaycard account that dates back to 1992!!!!!

When I was contacted by Lowell last Novemeber I paid it, prior to that I don't recall receiving any written letters from them!

Barclaycard say my account is closed in June 1992. But they sold the debt onto Lowell in October 2006.

I complained to Lowell and they said they would remove the default immediately, days went by and it wasn't done so I called the person back he told me an email was sent, few more days went by and I called back again as it hadn't been done........ I was then told that they couldn't do it, legally!! I hit the roof, they said I must have mis understood blah blah.....

Where do I go from here please help I am in danger of loosing out on a Bungalow all because of 15year old £103 debt! which I have paid. Also my credit file says the the amount is £1016, yet Barclaycard say that it was £103.22. I only apid Lowell £103.22

Thanks for any help

The debt was statute barred.

If it was me, as you've paid this, i'ld be getting onto Nigel Beaven at Lowell Financial and reading him the riot act about the default in the main and then the collection of a clearly statute barred debt which is against the OFT's guidelines for debt collection.

They can remove the default!

Good luck, regards, Dave.

Sorry Sam, there's no template letter for this, i'ld be tempted to just write it from the heart and keep it bussines like but stick with the hard facts of how they've acted. I'ld certainly address it to Nigel Beaven though.

Good luck.
