Poking my nose in again...but I seem to recall that it is a legal requirement for all businesses in the UK to keep written (including computer) records for SEVEN years. My ex-wife had a business and was told to do this by the Inland Revenue. This was only 2 years ago!!

BEST WISHES TO ALL AND KEEP ON GOING - WE'LL GET THERE IN THE END!!:D

Update: 2013 Following our recent (9/7/13) hearing about Bank Charges at the Court of Appeal, and refusal to grant permission to Appeal; an Application has just (23/10/2013) been made for a fresh hearing and the Court Location is yet to be confirmed!

15 letters and many telephone calls to Edinburgh. Just received another letter from Nat West saying my statements from 1992 to 1994 are no longer available ! Funny they cannot find these particular statements as i remember most of my charges are for these dates ! Also funny they supplied my data records back to 1992 ! Well looks like yet another letter to Edinburgh

Just got my credit card agreement from LLoyds TSB, ok so it isnt a bank statement but its in my hand and clearly marked 1987.

Thats 18 years old !!!!!

How can banks tell people they dont keep any documentation beyond 6 years?

Its all lies, dont be fooled.

  • 2 weeks later...

Barclays sent me 1995 to 2001 after asking for them on teh ordinary customer services number.

They appear to have data back to at least 1990, as I also requested a single statement a couple of months back to try and find something else out, and that was from January 1990 - they sent it within 3 days of my request.

If you think my advice has been helpful, please click on the scales to the left :) thank you!

all you can do to start is send in the sar's

after you have sent the reminder, then you can start the daily chore of hounding them on the phone

as for 1985, i dont think you have a chance

read the link i have put in the post above, and you will see how the old crapwest archive system works:) :)

To get my statements for 1995-2000 I contacted Joyce Tudor or Michelle Krugh on tel : 0131-626-1165 of fax : 0131-626-3049. If NatWest do not release statements and/or data records then your only option is legal action ! You could also try The Information Commisioners Office in Wilmslow however from my experience NatWest also ignore these people.

Most definately, they are truely a bunch of dimwits when it comes to obtaining something soooo simple, but in all honesty, me thinks Lloyds truely take the biscuit. The moral is dont hold yer breathe!!!!!!
