Hi folks. Im quite new to this stuff, and i heard through a friend that you can claim bank charges back for the past 6 years. So i sent a letter to the bank on 19th Feb this year (more than 6 weeks ago!) asking for a full and comprehensive list of the charges made to my account over the last 6 years, and for each charge to be dated and also the reason for the charge, and i still havent had a reply from the bank. Is there a time limit in which they have to reply in under the Data Protection Act?? Thanks!

doubt they would tell you about the £10 I suggest you start again enclose the £10 cheque statutory fee and tell them you require 6 years of statements under the data protection act and give them the statutory 40 days to reply make sure this is all in your letter - best of luck..

This might seem a stupid question, but its because im a stupid person:D . Does it have 2 b a 10 pound check i send with the letter for the fee or can it b 10 pound cash? Only because ive never dealt with checks before and ill b posting the letter straight 2 the bank so it wont get lost in the post or that. thanks!

I suggest you get a postal order from the Post Office as that's safer than cash. There is a lot going on over in the Clydesdale forum at the moment after Yorkshire Bank (same group) were in the Whistleblower programme the other week. There are some links you may find interesting in my sig below, but read the FAQ's and everything too.

There is a huge amount of info for you to take in, but take your time and you'll get sorted. Start a thread in the Yorkshire, Clydesdale and Northern Bank forum when you've read up and are starting out too.
