Welcome beanie

Of course he can - this is the right place to reclaim what's rightfully his.

However, it's quite a lot of work for a small amount. Does he have any other charges taken from the account over the past 6 years?

he has just started work and they were allowing him to go over which he thought was his overdraft of £40 each month but now thay have stopped it he got another letter in today for a further £80 in charges for being overdrawn not having the money in to pay his charges then money for being £2.56 over what ,where is the logic in that !!
