Good to know, I've just sent a letter about the fees and the fact I got double billed for some stuff. Will let you know how it turns out...

The views I express here are mere speculation based on my experience. I am not qualified nor insured to give legal advice and any action you take will be at your own risk.

I sent the letter to virgin and was told today that the fees for non direct debt payement would be stopping by the end of the year.

Can you provide substantiation for this? I don;t doubt what they've told you, but with such a major policy shift, it would take a very senior person to OK this. Also I'm surprised this is going to take 8 months to arrive, seeing how the angst about these charges is rising by the day.

Hi,

I've been meaning to write to them about the fees too. I keep seeing people up in arms over BT's £4.50/quarter charge (quite right too!) and wishing that's all it was costing me!

Anyway, congratulations. Did you use a template letter, and if so, where might I find it?

Also, I was wondering how it works with it having been Telewest previously: do Virgin pay back all the non D/D fees you ever paid, or just those in the few months since they took over?

Thanks :-)

You don;t need to be too formal, especially if their recent bills have been wrong and would have taken incorrect amounts. Simply call 150 and tell them you are unhappy with the charge (it helps if you pay them by BACS/Home Banking, as the cost to them is the same as DD. They can enter a code that gives 3 months credit for non-DD charges. Just call back every 12 weeks.
