Hello

I have been in The US for 6 years now, but kept a Barclays account open for transferring etc. Also have a Barclaycard.

I have had a number of charges levied against both of these accounts for late payments etc.

What can I do to claim back my money from over here. I have drafted the Data Protection Act letter ready for sending. But my concern is if I get a court date, Can I have a family member represent me or do I need a solicitor to do so.

Thanks in advance and good luck to all for a little windfall

:p

When it comes to filing claim, your representative will need to sign the claim form. Better be safe than sorry, make sure you notify Barclays in writing that they have authority to discuss your account, and ensure that all correspondance goes to that address.

Thanks Bookworm.

My brother is filing his own paperwork, so I'm thinking it best to get him to go for me, seeing as he is a bit further ahead with his claim. So he'll know the ropes at least, then its a beer I owe him.:)

couple more things. I just read about the Additions account.

Well I dont recall applying for this. But if I did, can I claim this back as well???

Also, would it be wise of me to e-mail Barclays today or phone them to announce my intent of getting the 6 years of charges?.

Has anyone done this and got paid out before court?

Thanks

Everybody gets paid before court! :-D (not that long before court in Barclays cases, they do like to hold on to our money for as long as they can, bless 'em)

Additions, you can't reclaim if you had applied for it, no. If you hadn't and they "upgraded" you without your knowledge, absolutely.

Thanks again Bookworm, So basically I just need to ask the question in some correspondence to them whether I was upgraded.

Its up to them to tell me I guess. They'll obviously know why I'm asking, but the B*ggers have taken a lot from me over the years so I'm looking forward to this in a kinky sort of way...lol

Hi I just got updated by the court I'm going to "try" to get my money from "Heh Heh"

They said if I'm not in the UK I'd have to get a legal rep. Ie Solicitor.

So when I get my data, thats what I'll have to do I guess. But if Ive got a decent amount of time before court I can visit family, so itll be pretty cool that Barclays will pay for all that too.
