Hi all,

Would just like to wish all of you Good Luck with your reclaiming of unlawful bank charges.

I have two claims to make and sent off the first of the template letters requesting copies of Bank Statements going back 6 years. As both of the banks were fairly local - I hand delivered them to members of their staff.

These were given to the Halifax and Nationwide. Both were for basic bank accounts. Letters handed in on 27th February 2007.

Outcome so far:-

Halifax responded within 20 days (Charges amount to nearly £1,800 without interest) 3.4.07 - see note below

Nationwide - nothing yet - they have until 7th April 2007. (Not sure yet what this claim will amount to)

Note: Halifax: rechecked the statements they gave me...I was expecting them to cover Feb 01 - Feb 07.... they sent me 145 pages..and the first line is dated 30th Nov 02...second line jumps to 23 April 03 (what no transactions in between?) So I have written to them today asking for the missing info to complete the full 6 years. Anyone else noticing that Halifax are being a bit cheeky !!!! or are they ?

A friend has just received his Halifax "Statements" for the last 6 years. He is adamant that all the penalty charges his account was debited with have been removed from these statements. I'll have a better idea when I check them for him, and will keep you updated

Upon rechecking the Statements I have received to date - they appear to have been printed off or dealt with by different people - as some of the pages show for eg..."direct debit: mortage ...."debit card payment ...sainsburys (quite detailed)

whereas other pages just show - direct debit or debit card payment - but does not state who it has been paid to?

Also at the beginning I was charged £30.00 if went overdrawn - then it went up to £35.00 - then up to £39.00 - then dropped down to £28.00 - but this also included an Interest charge - anything from 0.08p to £1.73. Then back to £39.00 etc....quite confusing - but I will be claiming it all back!!!

FWIW

If you have used the template from the site then they are obliged to send you all the data requested for the whole account history if they hold it, not the last six years.

Before deciding not to claim back the odler charges why not see what they have.

Ask for ALL your data you are entitled to it.

Thanks for that snippet of info.....I will ask for all info they hold - you never know - I may then be claiming back over £2k......I remember getting into a spot of bother when I got divorced with the Halifax and the mortgage as the ex had stopped paying his half but declined to keep me posted. :!:
