hiya

have printed off a letter to hsbc to ask for my statements/list of charges, but as i am closing my account with them can i still try and get my charges back?

Whether you are closing the account or not, the charges they levied on your account is unlawful. You can claim it back whether the account is closed or not.

 

It will be better if you make your request for statements now to enable you progress your claim against them. You can stop using the account now but only close the account when your money is fully refunded.

 

send your first letter off.

I concur with most of benny's post although I'd disagree there is any benefit in having the account open - personally I don't think it makes much difference.
