Hi, back in my student days i had a topshop store card. i always made minimum payments but then missed one and fell behind, the charges mounted up and i defaulted on the card, though the amount was only£235. The amount was settled in full quickly. I am now reclaaiming £140 in charges from GE money and was wondering if there would be anyway to get the default removed as the bank charges have been deemed unfair? if anyone has any info it would be much appreciated

It may be possible, as more than half the total was made up of charges. Have you sent any letters yet? If not include the following:

Additionally, you have entered a default notice against my credit record. This default occurred because of unlawful charges levied by you.In addition to full repayment of the penalty charges which you applied unlawfully to my account, I require that you remove the default entry from the register. Please note that mere correction or amendment to the entry will not be acceptable.

Good luck!
