Hello there,

I thought I'd sign up for this forum, as I am badly in need of advice after yesterday recieving a very nasty (and unexpected letter) from Thames Credit.

I have had a sleepless night worrying about this, the only thing which helped was reading the DCA forum on this site - it seems at least I'm not alone!!

I will post my question in that forum, but just wanted to say Hello to you all first!!

Hello Clare Cat and a very warm welcome to CAG. You have certainly come to the right place, where you will get lots of advice and support from the 130,000 members (and growing fast!).

There is a specific forum for debt collectors and you need to post your situation there. Between us we have experience of every DCA and know all their tricks and lies, as well as how to deal with them. These people thrive on frightening and deceiving people to make vast profits, but there are simple ways to deal with them effectively. Just ask any questions and people will share their experience and knowledge with you.

If you are in this position because of unlawful charges, then you also need to start a thread in the appropriate forum for the bank. The FAQ section on the Forum Homepage provides all the background reading to get started.

Just ask any questions in the forums, or there is a live chatroom where you can ask for help or just meet people! Welcome aboard and good luck

Hi and welcome to the site,

You've definately taken the first step into claiming back what's rightfully yours.

Spend time reading the FAQ's and the Step by Step guide as this will stop you making mistakes along the way. Use the letters and spreadsheets in the Templates Library as these have all been tried and tested in successful claims. Read as many threads as you can especially ones that relate to your bank. This is a SELF HELP site and won’t do the work involved for you. However, everything you need is on here somewhere.

Don't be afraid to ask any questions, no matter how stupid they may seem, but please remember that any advice that you receive is normally based on experience only and that you should seek expert advice if required.

Once you start the process of your claim remember to open a thread in the relative bank forum, this will enable you, and others helping you, to keep track of your claim.

All the best in your claim!!
