Does anyone know if it is acceptable for parking / traffic wardens to park illegally themselves - on the pavement, yellow lines, causing an obstruction etc? Surely they can't be allowed to do this and set a bad example while they go and book other people?

Thanks!

The law for traffic wardens is essentially the same as the Police, they can park illegally in the course of their duty.

For parking attendants, it is more a matter of getting away with it, as the law allows the councils discretion as to whether to enforce or not; for their own PAs on duty, they choose not.

Thank you for your helpful reply. So a council parking attendant can park dangerously and cause an obstruction yet get away with because the council protect them? Seems very hypocritical to me! Is there nothing the public can do to complain about this?

Thanks.

Take pictures and complain to the council. Copy to the local paper. If it really is dangerous, complain to the Police
