Unknown account numbers

Hi there everyone.

 

Just a quick question. I dont know the account numbers of my Student account and Student Visa i held with Bank of Scotland a good few years ago. On the Data Protection Request is it enough to just have my name and adress and tell them it's for these two old accounts?

 

Will both these also be covered by the same £10.00 fee or is it a tenner per account? I hope its the former as i have 4 accounts im hoping to claim on!

 

I'm just starting out with this whole procedure and am looking forward to claiming back the money they have taken off me in the past.

Hi Dave

 

First off £10 is for all accounts from same bank

 

Check who issued credit cards as it's them you claim from

 

As for unknown acc. numbers why not go into nearest branch, with ID and ask

 

OH bye the way start your own thread in the relevant bank forum.

This will get you help & advice from people dealing with that bank

I will go into my branch and do just that!!

 

Only other issue is that i have an old and closed capital one visa and again i dont know th number. they dont have branches i can go into, should i just phone them? I would doubt they'l give me my 16 digit card mo over the phone but im waiting to be proved wrong!!

You might just send them S.A.R. and where it says account number write ALL ACCOUNTS.

 

That should cover just about everything.

The only issue here is that they will often say they cannot locate your accounts without a valid account number. IMO it is a barefaced lie but how can you prove otherwise?

 

Need to be a bit clever with locating your account numbers.....

 

What about ringing customer services?

Have you got any old receipts (some receipts used to print off entire acc nos)

What about payments set up on your bank account to the CC (like direct debits, standing orders) they would have reference numbers for the CC.

PHoned and spoke to capital one, the girl said she couldnt give my nmber over the phone but she could sent me a steatement of account with all my details on it.

 

Moral of the story, if you want something, just ask!!
