Hi All - I 'joined' yesterday

Currently about £1,000 over my agreed overdraft limit with Barclays and as I am not able to reduce this amounts at this time - Barclays are threatening ‘further action’. Though they have not responded (other than standard letters) to my Income and Expenditure breakdown (first sent on 24 February) or my list of creditors. As I understand it my 'case' is being dealt with by the CDVS Team (whoever they are) - though I've not heard from them as yet.

Given I owe Barclays (and Barclaycard alas) money at the moment – would it be sensible to make a claim against them for excessive charging, or would that just compound my ‘problems’. I have opened a parachute account with HBOS :)

Any advice or thoughts from any one with similar experiences would be most welcome!

Thanks and good luck to you all.

Sent mine to the local branch, seemed to work fine (but took 5 weeks!)

Get your claim moving! If you're a grand over your agreed limit, I shudder to think how much they're taking from you in charges. 90 quid a month, is it? How much difference would getting all that back make to your overdraft!!

Best of luck,

David:) :)

Anyone know if I can ask them for a cheque (to pay into my parachute account) ?? :)

I suspect they will clear it from you debt. And i think I would recommend this too, it does not look to good if you not try to reduce a debt. Just my thoughts..

If I have been of any use to you in my response please click my scales.

MBNA WON 16/3/07 £1700 :p

If you want to spend some of your money from your new spending saving scheme why not buy a flybook laptop. http://www.everythingflybook.com. I can highly recommend them.

Another thought - Sorry Folks. Now I have sent my SAR to Barclays (and also Natwest and Barclaycard) am i right in thinking that as my accounts 'are in dispute' then interest and charges are frozen until such a time as the dispute is resolved (i.e. when they all pay me back what they owe) ??

Any help / advice gratefully received, as always.

Ta :-)

Just from personal experience this is not the case - they are still happily taking 90 quid a month off me.

Good luck with your claim though - you sound like a stand up fellow
