Hi I'm also a new member, not a very experienced forum user and struggling to post my initial hello to the group, hopefully this will do it. I have embarked on the initial stages of claiming back bank charges with Halixfax and Lloyds. Currently they are both quoting that they are sorry I have a complaint and will deal with it under the complaints procedure and will reply within 8 weeks.

Should I continue regardless?

Welcome to you both.

Yes the programme highlighted something many of us have known for a long time.

The process of getting the charges back in full and without too many problems relies on a good understanding of the way in which its done.

Reading up as much as possible on our site and following the tried and trusted procedures will assist you to that end.

All you need to do this is here, and others are here too to help you at every step of the way should you need it.

BWFC carry on regardless....8 weeks is their target to resolve it but should not need to be yours !

I had originally asked for my bank statements from Lloyds TSB and when I followed up with a phone call was told they had not received my letter or cheque. They took the phone call as a request and a duly received my statements. I calculated from these what I thought was owed and have sent the letter letter detailing the amounts. However now I have received a summary list from them of charges which is actually more than I have claimed. I am ready to send a lba, but can I change the amount in the letter? Also there are monthly fees (this is for a select account) listed in the summary which I had not claimed for, should I claim for these also? Can anyone help???

Hi BWFC

You can't claim the Select Account fee, as you must have some extras like Mobile Insurance or Breakdown cover with that type of account.

They will probably say no to your claim anyway, so when you send your LBA, amend your charges schedule and send them the amended copy.

This will insure you have given them all, and correct information. Leave them no excuses to have your claim thrown out.

Good luck

Thanks Aviator and moderator for your help, I will send my lba letter with the revised amount, but won't include the account fee. It is the Hardshaw Branch by the way. Just a waiting game now I suppose. Sure I'll be back for more advice, quite worried about actually taking court action, but determined to carry on.

  • 4 weeks later...

Help. I have sent my lba to Lloys and Halifax. The halifax have again send me a letter saying they will respond by May 14th. Lloyds have not replied at all. Is the best action to ring both and confirm I will be taking action? Or should I just go straight to the court action?

Also I am helping my son to claim from HSBC, but his charges are just labelled charges and then there is a monthly interest fee. I presume the interest is because he has an overdraft. Can this interest be claimed?
