Looking to sort out a parachute account this week. We are taking HSBC to task over our joint account and my personal account (basic).

Do I need to try and get a current account as a parachute or just a basic and then try and upgrade when/if HSBC kick us out?

Is it easy to get am upgrade from a basic to a current account once you have a basic account? We have been with HSBC for over 12 years so I can't remember how it works.

We don't have a great credit rating at the moment (in fact it's crap) are there any banks that are easier to get a decent current account with?

So you think just get a basic account and see what happens?

Do the HSBC have a history of closing peoples accounts post action?

I am thinking about this one too. There is another similar thread in this forum called something like "Recommend a parachute account". You could look there too.

... if you have a crap credit rating...

I like that. I think Experian should change their policy on 'credit score' from numbers to;

Excellent

Good

Poor

Crap

Anyway..not sure what just happened but I rang Natwest up about their current plus account (you don't need a set amount to pay in per month) and somehow I was offered their top of the range 'Gold Advantage account'!!!

I was super-sized despite the fact I thought I'd only get a step account!

Still in shock!

Do you really need the Natwest Gold Advantage account? After all you will have to pay £12 a month. They offer this not because you may need it but another ploy to get money out of you.

The Advantage Gold account is a great way to save up to £621 every year (see savings summary below) on essentials such as travel, mobile, car and home insurance and other services. You pay just £12 a month and get a 90-day money-back guarantee, so why not try it out? It's easy to upgrade a current account to Advantage Gold, and you could start enjoying the benefits immediately.

Enjoy exclusive benefits and discounts by paying just £12 a month:

  • Keep your Current Plus account benefits (e.g. Cashcard, telephone and OnLine Banking)
  • Enjoy preferential overdraft and personal lone rates
  • Access exclusive NatWest mortgage offers, plus discounts on car and home insurance
  • 5 star Annual Worldwide Travel Insurance worth £160.
  • Mobile Phone Insurance - Register up to 2 phones on joint accounts

They wanted me to have this one but I just told them that I wanted the current plus account.

:) Go on ... you know you want to click me :)

:lol:don't be like the banks - give a little back

:D There was a time before CAG but now CAG is here we are the empowered! :D
