Hi all, I have not been banking with HSBC for a while but am going through the claiming charges back process. Im that discusted with them that I want to close my son's high interest savings account. I plan to do this on monday and when enquiring about it, I was told that i'd be payed my son's money back by cheque! Is this right????!!!

Surely they can't do this as it's my money and should have the right to have it immediately and not wait upto 7 days for it to clear into my bank account???!!!

If offered a cheque can I demand payment in cash??

Thanks in advance for any advice-a little off the topic I know!

They usually put the money back into the account, unless you have requested to be paid by cheque.

I am surprised!

Halifax - £245 - SETTLED - in full

MBNA Business - £190 - SETTLED - in full

HSBC - Closed business a/c - £1,850 - SETTLED IN FULL

Nat West Card - SETTLE IN FULL - £124.71

Halifax Credit Card - MCOL 26th May 2007

I haven't had my accounts with Hsbc for 2 /3 years, all three are closed barring this one, but if i just wanted to withdraw the money and not close the account, i'd have to give them 4 weeks notice! Hope this still doesn't apply!!!!!!

Savings accounts, especially high interest accounts commonly have a period of notice before you can withdraw your money without penalty, normally its loss of interest for a period... if the worst your getting is the clearance period for a cheque of 7 days I would say your doing well. Go close the account and you will be rid of them for good in a week.
