we had an account with Abbey which we closed in december 2003 after our charges forced our hand.

since we closed the account, we have moved house and i wondered how to word this in my initial letter to ensure that we can prove our identity and still get the bank to acknowledge this as our permanent address

Hey there,

dont worry about that too much i have had the same thing with 3 of my claims as i moved house about 6 months ago with all the old accounts since closed.

Clearly it would be very helpful if you still have your account details, ie sort code and account number. Then in the letter at the top of page list these and write a paragraph just explaining that you have moved, but then list your old address, also list any password you may have had on the account and things like mothers maiden name. Also let them know roughly when account was opened and indeed closed, whether or not it was a joint account, current account ect ect.

Me myself had no problems with address change, and with Barclays i didnt even have my account details anymore but they still found me ok.

Hope this helped :)
