Hi Lynn i have spoken to the person below who is very good and knows her stuff, contact her in regards to settlement with conditions, they are telling you to sign your future rights away of claiming back any punitive charges. Let me know how you got on.

George,

Phoned rachel. She said I had to wait 8 weeks after my initial letter to Halifax to complain to FOS, which will be next week. She is going to write to them and also send me the complaint form. I have to write to Halifax asking if this is their final decision (that there are conditions)and they should send a letter saying, sorry but yes, and to contact FOS within... (6 months? I think she said )if i was unhappy.

Which we know they won't!

Sod's Law!.If they pay out now (which I think they will) within the next week I'm going to lose out on interest!

Think i just got someone on a bad day the last time because this girl was really helpful.

Thanks for your help again.

Keep you posted

Lynn

Excellent Lynn, keep me updated.

George

Just a quick thought, you could contact her again and ask for her to request interest also at the 8%, why not? i dont see any reason against it, go get em and remember treat them as they treat you.

George

That is my intention but she didn't ask for an amount.probably because I haven't filled in the complaint form yet. It's due later this week.

Today is halifax 14 days from receiving my letter of acceptance so I'm going to send a fax letting them know I want interest too.

Letter came from FOS today(that was quick) stating that they have written to them so I really think I should see the money soon so they dont have to pay the interest.

Hi all - Help!!!!!!

I've been reading through this thread. I'm already sifting through hundreds of statements with the Nat West Bank and now have to deal with Halifax.

I sent my £10.00 - got a list of charges over the last six years. Sent my second letter requesting my unauthorised charges returned to me. They have sent me a letter saying:

"Dear Mrs.......

Thank you for your recent complaint. I am sorry you are unhappy about the charges which have been applied to your account. One of my colleagues will carry out a full investigation to your complaint."

They then go into a dialogue of their commitment to me (which omits the fact that whilst they committed themselves to honesty and trust they were **EDITED** over the years and putting me in debt).

They then go into a dialogue of : "If I have employed someone to handle your complaint on your behalf please note the following:" and then list things Halifax don't do and will do (they won't charge me when they investigate my complaint - How 'generous' of them not to **EDITED** further!)

They conclude by telling me they will write to me within the next 4 weeks to update me of their progress!

Now, I've read through this thread that I, the customer, should take charge. How? Is there a standard letter anywhere that I can plagerise and inform them of my intentions to take this further if they don't respond within a given amount of time (say 14 days) or should I wait the 4 weeks from their dated letter?

Please help .... any advice would be welcomed!

regards

revo

Hi revo firstly may i suggest you have a look in the FAQ's there are steps which you should take which allow for the 14 days you refer to in both the prelim and the lba.

Please start your own thread for this so you can find it easier to follow.
