Hello

I am new to all this (reclaiming bank charges) my account was shut down last year by my bank because there were insufficent funds in it, at the time i owed them about one hundred pounds. I am now paying them back that money and need to know if this situation affects me claiming charges from my old bank?

I'm on a role!!!!, I have sent of my Preliminary Letter to Barclays Bank and have also contacted Natwest about getting all my statements for the past 6 years. For Natwest, i spoke to some chap over the phone, he wasmost helpful (lets hope this lasts). The number called was, 0845 605 2605. It was £5 and i've been told it will take up to 10 days to recieve them all.

Wish me luck, i'll keep you posted :)

  • 3 weeks later...

Help, I sent off my Preliminary Letter to my bank (Barclays) which they recieved, they sent me back a letter which says:

'blah blah blah, May i take this opportunity to explain that whilst we will endeavour to respond to you within timescales outlined in your letter, we cannot guarantee that we will do so. Sometimes it does take longer to fully investigate a complaint. However we do aim to find a solution within four weeks. If we are not able to do so, we will always write to you explaining what is happening. A full report or an update on our progress will be sent to you within eight weeks'

EIGHT WEEKS!!! Are these delaying tack-ticks? Should i proceed with court action?

Helpppp!!!

yes these are delaying tactics remember, if you owe them money they will only give you 28 days to respond , you 've outlined what you want off them in the 1st place, its not unreasonable.
