Hello,

I am in the process of getting bank charges refunded but the bank are obviously being slightly awkward. I am considering going to a small claims court but beforehand I want to investigate to possibility of also being compensated for the charges seriously affecting my credit score with Equifax and Experian.

Do you know of anyone who has done this and how do I evaluate the amount of compensation I would request?

Many thanks.

Thanks for the response. My charges from The Woolwich on my current account total £1466 over a 2 year period. This put my overdraft at around £1250, with a limit of £750. Once this happened I starting paying my salary into another account and for 6-9 months did not contact Woolwich. In the meantime they had sold the debt to an agency who I then contacted and paid off around £100 per month for a year or so. Therefore it did not cause a CCJ but around 12 months ago I went to get a mortgagae and had alot of trouble, eventually getting one but at a high rate. I still cannot get any credit cards etc. This situation is partly due these charges and partly for other credit offences from my past, however the current account charges from the Woolwich, I believe, have certainly not helped.

My claim with the Woolwich for the £1466 was opened around 4 weeks back and they told me on the phone I would recieve an offer within 20 working days. I told them at the time to put notes on my case file that I would not accept an offer, as I wanted the full amount. Today, just within the timescale, they have written to me stating my case has been passed to Barclays, and that Barclays would be in touch with an offer within another 20 working days.

For these reasons, today I was annoyed, hence why I was asking about attempting to get more compensation from them.

Any further advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.
