hi there, ive been browsing through this site for a few weeks to try and get some knowledge of how to claim my bank charges. Im still soooo confused!! so far ive recieved all my bank statements and gone through them but thats about it. Ive heard about interest, reclaimimg default? My claim is also estimated (by me) roughly 1556ish? i dont know where to piece it all together and work really long hours..access to computer is also tough when u have a teenage brother in the house!!

Is there anyone i could recieve advice face to face as im not very good with reading articles and law? this may sound really lazy but ive also seen adverts of people who do the work for you..no win no fee people(who i usually claim are the reason the world is so untrusting) i think they usually charge 15%, and i would rather get all the money that is entitled to me...which will actually pay my overdraft off once and for all!

Can anyone help? Many thanks

Frances,

Welcome to CAG.

Your best bet would be to start a thread in the forum for whichever bank you are going to claim against. You'll get help there from people who have already successfully claimed and will tell you exactly what to do.

Call your thread something like "_frances vs. [insert your bank here]". That way, all your posts are in one place and the experts will be able to track your progress and give you all the help you need.

Before you go diving in and send any letters or start any spreadsheets, read the FAQs here: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/faqs-please-read-these/

Read as many of the stickies in your bank's section (at the top).

When you have done that, you will find all the letters (and spreadsheets) you need in the Templates Library, here: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/

Good luck with your claim; don't be afraid to ask any questions. Hope this helps.

OB :)

btw. To get the bro off the PC, tell him you'll buy him a lollipop with your winnings. :p

Please read the Stickies and FAQs. Your question may have been answered already.

Old Bear vs. NatWest - won after first letter £600

Mrs Bear vs. Studio - won after first letter £360

Old Bear vs. Abbey - won after first letter - only £50, but it's the principle

Old Bear vs. Black Horse - £117 of charges wiped off 2 loans, but more WILL follow

Mrs Bear vs. Index (Littlewoods) - SAR sent - 2/2/2007

Hi Francis

Its really not that difficult, just take one thing at a time

1 Post in the relevant bank/Credit card forum

2 Send SAR get your statements http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/516-1-data-protection-act.html

3 While your waiting for your statements have a good read around the FAQ's http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/faqs-please-read-these/ and read threads in the appropriate forum

4 Mark up all the penalties your bank/credit card provider has added to your account.

5 Send prelim letter http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/671-2-letter-preliminary-approach.html

That should keep you happy for a while:)

AL;)
