Question Please. Abbey or MBNA ?

I had an Abbey Mastercard which was issued by MBNA.

 

Do I write my letters to Abbey or MBNA?

I would presume this is MBNA as they are the card issuer. Where do your statements come from? There should be one main address stated on them and if this is either Abbey or MBNA that would be the company you need.

Statements were issued by Abbey with notes on statements that card was issued by MBNA etc.

 

I have since closed the account but am determined to recover severe penalty charges etc. When I closed my account (which was normally managed online) my letter snail mail correspondence was with MBNA in Chester as that seems to be their accounts office.

 

I also note on my statement that Abbey Credit card has a PO Box address in Bolton. As a first shot I have written to MBNA as they wrote to me to confirm account closure but as expected they have ignored my letter.

 

I think I will now write to both with a threat of legal action and see what that produces. The main point I suppose is who is the 'Penalty Raiser' here is it MBNA or Abbey?
