I joined the site last year but it's taken me 6 months :o to get a parachute account up and running. RBoS have been obstructive every step of the way! Unfortunately for them, my new current account pays a good interest rate, and no £6 a month charge for some dubious benefits.

I have a question: My ex-husband and I had a joint account and when he walked out in 2001, I kept the same account number and he signed something for the bank saying that he had no claim over the account any more, they took his name off the account and also off the loan (since paid off) and the overdraft (also paid off). When ;-) I am successful in reclaiming my charges, will he have any claim on the money? Some of the charges were accrued while my ex's name was on the account.

So I have sent off my SAR letter today using the template from the library with my £10 cheque.

It starts here, and the clock is ticking.....

I sent that SAR letter by recorded delivery, but Royal Mail lost it somewhere. It never showed as delivered, I didn't get a reply from the bank and my cheque wasn't cashed, so I assume they didn't receive it (or received it without having to sign, and binned it, who knows!)

So last week I wrote another letter enclosing a copy of my previous letter and a replacement cheque, and this time I hand-delivered it to my branch. I no longer live or work close to my branch, but the journey was worth it.

My cheque for £10 was cashed yesterday according to digital banking, so I should be receiving the statements soon.

I had a word with my ex and he is prepared to write a letter to the bank if necessary to say that any refund of charges should be paid to me alone, so that's sorted.

It's quite complicated, the way RBoS add the Royalties subscription to the charges some months and not others. I've deducted the Royalties subs, and I've worked out that I've paid £1610.00 in charges in the last six years, so I'm just about to send them a letter requesting it all back.

Yes, that's what I did too, deducted the royalties fee where they've combined it. I also put the charges i'd amended in bold text to draw the bank's attention to the fact that I wasn't claiming royalties if that helps:)

Good luck & keep us posted!

What a surprise, my prelim letter has been completely ignored. I told them they had 14 days to respond, they've actually had 21. So the LBA goes off to them tomorrow.

I'm a little bit ahead of you - sent LBA 2 weeks ago so this weekend I'm preparing to file at court.

I received no response to my 2 letters, although reading some of these threads some people have had full settlement after the LBA.

Maybe it's a lottery who they deal with first, or maybe they're just getting busier and busier??
