Hi there. Just joined the site and wish I had found it earlier. A colleague of mine mentioned about these overpaid charges these wealthy banks have been making to us poor hardworking people and how the Worm has now turned and the boot is now firmly on the other foot. He and a few of his friends had succesfully got there charges refunded by doing the following..

1) Requested last 6 years worth of Statements

2)Compiled the unlawful charges

3)Sent a letter to their respective banks mentioning how unlawful these charges had been, The OFT, Unfair terms in Consumer Contracts Regs 1999(SI1999,2083),etc ,etc ,etc...

4)Banks have replied and paid them back in Full -

HAPPY DAYS Easy No problems I think..

So I duly sent my letter to Barclays Bank requesting an Immediate refund for all unfair charges over the last 6 years..

My problem - I went through my statements and after some heavy crying and very loud sobbing, I established that I had been unfairly been charged a total of £3345...

I didnt half feel a right chump as couldnt believe I could have been so stupid.

Anyway sent letter off requesting full refund.

They replied stating that they would not accept any admissions of Liability but they would be nice people and offer me £1000 for the hell of it..:-|

Now I'm not a greedy man but think they are well off target and I do not know what to do next? Any Ideas on how I Should proceed?

Can you nice people out there assist me?

Welcome to the site.

Barclays are obviously being a little charitable but as you say the figures do not add up.

Your next course of action is to send them a letter telling them you will only be accepting 100%.

There is a letter for this in the banks temp library, which states that you will however take it as a partial settlement.

Here is the script.

Barclays will withdraw the offer and you proceed for the lot.

Read the faqs and other Barclays threads to learn more.
