Well done for winning, I am reading all peoples posts, as I want to take action against Nat West, and Yorkshire Bank and about 5 credit cards.(if I didn't have the charges I probabley wouldn't need the credit cards in the first place!!!! I haven't started yet, and must say I am a little confused, I know firstly that I must contact the companies to find out excactly what I have been charged, before I can start anything..... and this I will do today! Lets get the ball rolling....and the printer printing! Fingers crossed, I will be as lucky as you people one day!

might try and give them a ring too, did you ask for statements or a computer print out??

Mind you, then again, would it not be better in writing??? That way you have proof.... plus you have to request that they have to show you any person intervention, which there probably won't be, and that way you can show you have requested this!

'Hiya all I can say that if I can do this (with lots of help mind you) anybody can... I now have quite a few other claims going but this was my biggest and "test" on to see if the process works... and it does... my bank account is now living proof that it can be done...

My advice is dont let it get you down, I worked though everything a step at a time, reading other threads helped me so much so I knew what was coming... and when to expect it and what to do if it didnt happen that way...

Send your first letters out and sit back and wait, but while your waiting keep reading, its amazing just how quickly everything clicks into place and well you know what your facing...

If you need help ask.... I for one now gone through the complete process am willing to help anybody that needs help....

good luck with your claims

Lynne

Hiya, My original claim was for £3500 that was for 6 yrs worth of charges, I was amazed when I totalled it all up... mind you Im not that upset it went all of the way... I ended up with just under £5k with the interest...

Im still shocked that natwest insist on taking it all of the way costing them more money that they would have originally had to pay...

ah well, I thought of it as a great savings plan with a really good rate of interest....

keep going, at times it feels like its a never ending cycle... but it does end, and your account ends up with a credit....

My advice mind you is to always send everything recorded delivery... and keep a copy.... and check that they have recieved it... I havent sent anything via email... I dont trust them not to hit the delete button instead of dealing with it....

best wishes

Lynne

Hi Lynne

Thanks for the support, and reading that you yourself have already won, then that gives me the push to think I can do that! It is a bit scary though, but like you said, I will keep reading and asking for help! I have made a start and sent for my Dpa, (I think thats the right word) for 2 of my bank accounts. I am so fed up of the charges, I can't get my everyday bills paid for them, and if I don't put a stop to them, then the bank certainly isn't going to!

Anyway, thanks in advance! Lets hope I don't become too much of a pest!

Well done Lynne - a gripping read!

I'm helping my girlfriend with her claim against Nat West and can't wait to get her money back.

Everyone who posts and wins is an inspiration - congratulations and thanks for the belief that it can be done!

Kylestyle

The first thing you need to write is a Data Protection Act request so you have details of all the charges the back has levied against your account over the past x years, as well as details of any manual interventions. The template for this, and other letters, can be found in the Templates section of the site, here http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/

Once you've sent that letter off, I would advise spending a good few hours familiarising yourself with the site by reading the Step by Step guide in the FAQS here: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/faqs-please-read-these/ as well as reading through others cases where you can glean plenty of useful advice.

You should also, unless you already have, start your own thread 'Kylestyle vs Natwest' where you can post questions, and updates on your own battle with Natwest.

Good luck!
