Hi.

Have spent several hours reading this site and i'm sure it will run into days by the time i have finished!

Have just recieved all 400 pages(!) of my previous six years. Have been through about half so far - it really is an eye opener to see how much we are being ripped off. From what i have read i am pretty happy with what are and are not penalty fees.

Once done, i will put it onto a spreadsheet and then send the first letter.

Have posted this to keep a record of my progress - and no doubt to shout for help at some point!

What a great way to get money out of Natwest without using a shotgun...(Joke!)

Bring it on!!!

Hi and welcome to the site,

:p

You've definately taken the first step into claiming back what's rightfully yours.

You seem to have already spent some time reading the FAQ's and the Step by Step guide, but worth doing again as this will stop you making mistakes along the way. Use the letters and spreadsheets in the Templates Library as these have all been tried and tested in successful claims. Read as many threads as you can especially ones that relate to your bank. This is a SELF HELP site and won’t do the work involved for you. However, everything you need is on here somewhere.

Don't be afraid to ask any questions, no matter how stupid they may seem, but please remember that any advice that you receive is normally based on experience only and that you should seek expert advice if required.

All the best in your claim!!

Ian make sure the letter is sent to Borehamwood Customer Relations Unit that deal with all charges letters. Good Luck

Quick question, if anyone can help.

I am almost done putting the charges onto the spreadsheet (Excel). The spreadsheet automatically lists 8% APR onto each charge.

Now, i know i should only claim interest once it reaches the court stages.

However, on sending my first 'give me my money back letter' should the interest costs be visible on the schedule of claims sheet that will accompany the letter. Or, should i hide this column until the final stages.

On the letter, i was planning to just mention the straight re-clamation charges and for the time being ignore the juicy 8% amounts.

Thoughts??

Are you claiming contractual interest - the rate they charge for borrowing - or are you happy with the 8%?

Ah, yes. Have checked FAQs a bit more thoroughly, you don't let them see the 8% yet.

That said, if the bank know they are going to pay up eventually, does the idea hold weight, that if they see what could be added at the court process - this might entice/encourage them to cough up prior to it reaching that stage?

Westy - i am claiming back the banks added interest on unauthorised borrowing - which i was going to hit with 8% along with the other charges at some point.

Hi, Ian

The banks know very well what will be added at the Court stage. that may be why they've been settling some smaller cases quickly - the expense simply wasn't justified.

No point in including the 8% at the moment, I wouldn't have thought. Just say in your letters that you will be seeking statutory interest in addition, without putting a value on it. That MAY get their attention. I strongly suggest you read the 'why is no-one claiming contractual interest' thread for free and frank exchanges of views on the relative merits of authorised, unauthorised, authorised plus 8%, unauth the same, or just 8%. Sit down in a comfy chair with a 6-pack of Red Bull is my advice!

Best

Westy, I see what you mean!

For the time being i will stick to the basic claim - that said however i will be keeping a close eye on the the guys from the link you sent me - near 30% is very enticing!

Sent my prelim letter to Borehamwood today - i did not include the 8% on the schedule of charges but i did state that if they left me with no alternative but to pursue legal action i would be adding at least 8% to my claim.
