Hi to all

I have just written to Abbey for the first time claiming charges and interest. They have replied to me with what I imagine is a standard delay letter saying that they will write to me in 4 weeks to tell me how their investigation is going!!

Should I sit tight and wait or should I write back and give a time scale for their response?

Its the first time that I have used this site so if I am using the wrong forum would someone please point me in the write direction?

Happy new year to you all.

Yes, you're in the right forum for taking on Abbey.

Their letter is the standard fob-off and it doesn't take much imagination to work out what you'll get (or rather not get) after their 4 weeks. I suggest you reply setting out a timetable, probably another 14 days before you file a Court claim (see Letter Before Action in the templates.

Having said that, I'd strongly advise that you first prepare fully by reading through the FAQs and make sure you are ready. For example, I personally wouldn't threaten 14 days if I didn't already have the Court claim drafted because you are taking on a large company with large resources and can end up with problems later if you don't get the early stages right (eg what sort of interest did you claim - contractual ?). But if you follow the excellent advice on this site, you'll win (so many examples of that). Regards, Mad Nick.
