Hi all...

I have posted a similar thread in the debt and bailiff forum, but wondered if anyone had any additional info. regarding A & L procedures and legalities.

Several years ago, I ran into difficulties with Alliance & Leicester; current account, overdraft facility, visa, etc. To cut a long story short, the account(s) was passed to Security Investigations (part of Alliance & Leicester, so it seems) and I paid them £20 a month from 2000 until approx. 2003. The account(s) was then passed to Moorcroft, who I have continued to pay ever since (still £20 a month). Interest was frozen from the beginning.

Now that I am more familiar with my rights, I have rattled off CCA and Deed of Assignment requests to Moorcroft in order to ascertain whether they ever owned the debt and are still within their rights to continue collecting on it, but does anyone know if I should also send an S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) to A & L for info. going way back to 2000... or am I opening a can of worms for myself... or if is there a time frame for this ? As the debt goes right back to 2000, there should be quite a few charges to claim from A & L, which with any luck, could wipe out the remainder of the debt altogether.

Security Investigations were the original agents for A & L from 2000/02, but it was passed to Moorcroft some time in 2002/3 and I am fairly sure that I did not consent to my details being sold to an outside agency. Can anyone here confirm that Security Investigations are an A & L debt pet ?

Interest has remained frozen from 2000 onwards and I continue to pay Moorcroft £20 a month to date. However, I am concerned that if I approach Security Investigations with any data requests at this stage, then it could mean be seen as a fresh acknowledgement of a debt with them... if it turns out that Moorcroft are unable to produce a CCA !

Also, did Security Investigations have the right to pass my details across to Moorcroft anyway ?

I hope you are not totally confused by all this.... 'coz my head is hurting... :-(... and that's before a New Year bevvy.
