Hi having read the welcome i'm introducing myself, i'm looking to claim back all the charges i have paid to the halifax and also the northern bank over the past ten years.I'm gonna read the FAQ's then find the forum i need.

 

The only question I have now is does it work for people from northern ireland as sometimes our courts and laws differ?

Hi Steven and welcome to CAG,

 

Yes you can claim your charges back in Northern Ireland but there are some differences to the law. Like Scotland, there is a limit of £750 in your equivalent of the small claims court and there are some other differences. You should do a search on 'Northern Ireland' using the search function and you will find out more.

 

You are right to be reading the FAQ's as most of the content will apply to you with only minor differences.

sorry blueskies to contradict you but the limit in northern ireland small claims is £2000. the northern ireland court service have a web site which should do for anyone there to check out the court system.

I'm sending the data protection letter today!!

 

Can I ask a few questions that i'm still looking for answers to but couldn't find in reading the FAQ or some treads?

 

1. I've seen that the bank can cancell your account, has anyone experienced them bieng blacklisted or the bank messing with their credit rating cos of you taking action against them?

 

2. Has anyone ever gone to court or did the banks settle before it and did anyone lose against a bank?

Hi it's now 33 days from i posted my D.P.A. the halifax cashed the cheque 20 days ago but i haven't as yet recieved the statements, if we go to the forty days and i don't recieve anything what is the next step for me?

Non compliance letter from the templates section , although a quick call to remind them of their obligations and also a letter to do that sometimes works!!

thanks i posted them a letter and have just recieved my credit card statements and i'm now waiting on the bank account ones too. Already lookin 1000 pound on crediyt card alone!!

Ok it was only yesterday i got my statements for my credit card but the bank account hasn't followed and i don't want to hold up proceddings. So can you advise me on the next step is it the first letter?

i've sent the first letter asking for my charges reinistated so i'll just hold on to the timescales. I still haven't recieved my statements for my bank account only the credit card.

Hi I want to take on the northern bank who i banked with up until three years ago, the only thing is i cannot find my account number. The account is now closed what can i do??

Have moved all your posts here as it was looking complicated.10 posts in the welcome thread is far too many !!

Start a new thread in each bank group that you will be claiming for.

 

In response to your last question......you will need to send a subject access request to Northern Rock.

Be aware that you may need to send proof of ID.

Contact details for them can be found in the Bank contacts section.

You may also wish to have a look through other NR threads.
