Hi. I have just joined and need help, I am no longer with Barclays Bank as

had to swop accounts due to seperation, in the 7years I was with them they

were great with loans and overdrafts "but" as regards the overdraft of £250,

each and every month they would allow me to go over this by as much as £300

this was due to financial difficulties, and then send me a letter charging

me £25-30. I may be silly, but is this the money i can claim back and can I still make a claim even though I am no

longer with them, or should I forget it.?????? I just want to get whats

mine.!!

Any help would be greatley appreciated

Jim

Hi jim,

Yes you can claim this back, even though your account is closed. start by reading the Faq's and then read as much as you can especally in the barrclays forum. start your own thread in barclays and keep it updated. ask an questions along the way. we are very friendly and have all been in the same boat, one way or another.

Good luck

Nona

Hi SuperJim.

You can go back up to six years whether the account is active or dormant and the procedures are exactly the same.

With Barclays, look on the statements for....

UNPAID OUTS.

PAID REFERRAL.

UNAUTH O/D FEE.

All these can be reclaimed. The FAQs (see the link in my signature) will answer most of your initial questions.

Start your own thread in the Barclays Bank Forum and post any questions and progress reports there. That way we can check your progress and offer help that is tailored to your needs.

Good luck with yur claim.

Regards, Rooster.

Thank you, you have boosted my confidence. I went into Barclays Friday and asked for a copy of all bank statements for the last 6 years and they shocked but are doing it with a charge of £5 I thought it was £10 but hey ho. Will see what happens. jim

superjim you must read the FAQ's. They have probably conned you.

Your request MUST be in writing & only paying £5 means they are not obligated to provide you with ALL the data they hold nor are they required to comply with the 40 day deadline. Do it again properly.

Hi Jim have moved your posts to the Barclays bank group. You should get assistance here if you need it.

As a Barclays claimant myself I can say that they are not the easiest....but not the hardest and as we all know settle when they have to.

I would advise you to resist any temptations to deal with them by telephone or e mail..Barclays seem to have an affinity with claimants from the past (and present who have made Mr.Jeremiah into a superstar....dont be fooled.

Keep all your dealings in writing.

If you need any advice there are lots of Barclays claimants past and present who will assist.

For more complex matters you can call on site helpers or mods.

As it is a closed account you may have other issues with debt collection agencies....Barclays are known to sell to AKtive Kapital who can be a real thorn in the side.

If this is the case with you have a look in the Baliff and debt threads in the consumer group.

In fact there are many here who have the same issues and therefore would be useful for you to read up omn this there.

Have a happy and prosperous 2013 by avoiiding Payday loans. If you are sent a private message directing you for advice or support with your issues to another website, this is your choice. Before you decide, consider the users here who have already offered help and support.
