I have my current mortgage with Northern Rock. I remortgaged in May 05 and was charged an ERC of £6852.87 plus other fees like redemption fee £250 etc.

As I am still with them, is it worth claiming these back, or would they make life difficult for me?

Now I may be wrong so I would wait for other advise aswell but...From everything Ive read on this site it doesn't seem advisable that you go after your current mortgage provider as it appears that they can make life difficult for you in the future if you get in to arears...

However the limitations on reclaiming ERC's is twelve years so If you change again in the next few years you go go after them. Just keep all the paper work safe so you dont have to get it off them in the future.

I think it all depends on your financial situation if you think you will never have future problems with them then go for it, If you are more reserved like myself bide your time till you have a new provider.

(This is now the point everyone disagrees with me and says go for it!!!)

might treat this as a nest egg for the future (or when I remortgage again to somebody else):)

Thats what I would do, I am currently going after 2 previous mortgage lenders, the 3rd I am leaving for now as I even though I no longer have the house I do have a mortgage with them on my current home.
